Questions: iDRAC Unreachable, OS Up

  • Can the iDRAC be reached via the host OS using ipmitool over the local KCS/BT interface?
  • What does ipmitool lan print show for the iDRAC network configuration (IP, gateway, VLAN)?
  • Has the iDRAC IP been reassigned or conflicted with another device on the management VLAN?
  • Is the dedicated management NIC showing link up at the switch side?
  • Could the iDRAC have crashed or hung, requiring a BMC cold reset?
  • Are there any firewall rules or ACLs on the management switch that could block traffic?
  • Has the iDRAC firmware been recently updated, and could it be in a bad state?
  • Can the iDRAC be reset from the host OS without rebooting the server?
  • Is the management VLAN properly trunked to this switch port?
