Questions to Determine

  • What is the exact RAID controller model and PCI device ID?
  • Does the RHEL 8.8 installer ISO include the driver (kernel module) for this specific RAID controller?
  • Is a Driver Update Disk (DUD) available from Broadcom or Lenovo for this controller and RHEL version?
  • Can the controller be switched to JBOD/HBA mode to use the inbox mpt3sas driver instead?
  • Is there a newer RHEL 8.x minor release or RHEL 9 ISO that includes the required driver?
  • Does Lenovo provide a custom RHEL ISO with their driver pack pre-integrated?
  • Is the RAID controller firmware at the minimum version required for the driver?
  • Could the RAID virtual disk be configured incorrectly (not initialized, foreign config)?
  • Is the UEFI boot mode configured correctly for the installer?
