Grading Checklist¶
- Checked iLO network configuration (dedicated vs. shared NIC, IP settings, speed/duplex)
- Ran basic network diagnostics: ping, traceroute, bandwidth test to iLO IP
- Investigated switch port statistics for errors, speed negotiation, duplex settings
- Checked for IP address conflicts using arping or ARP table inspection
- Verified iLO firmware version and checked for known issues
- Reviewed iLO active sessions and resource usage
- Considered duplex mismatch as a root cause for intermittent packet loss
- Suggested checking the physical cable and port (swap cable, try different switch port)
- Proposed a workaround (SSH to iLO CLI, serial console) while diagnosing the KVM issue
- Identified that the Java console crash and HTML5 lag share the same root cause (network)
- Recommended fixing the speed/duplex negotiation or hard-setting both ends
