Symptoms: DHCP Not Working on Remote VLAN¶
- New hosts on VLAN 50 cannot obtain IP addresses via DHCP.
- Hosts get APIPA addresses (169.254.x.x) after DHCP timeout.
- DHCP works correctly on VLAN 10, where the DHCP server is located.
- Other VLANs (20, 30, 40) that were set up previously have working DHCP.
- The DHCP server logs show no DHCPDISCOVER messages from VLAN 50 clients.
- VLAN 50 was recently provisioned; static IP hosts on VLAN 50 can route to the DHCP server.
- The router has a working interface (SVI) on VLAN 50 with correct IP addressing.
- Manually assigning an IP address on VLAN 50 allows full network connectivity.
